Oh boy were we looking forward to Thanksgiving this year! It meant Marc would be off of school for a couple of days which is always a favorite for the kids and I (even though he had to study here and there), delicious food was about to hit our bellies, and time to RELAX!
I would say that all of this happened...just not in the order we were planning. haha Unfortunately Braxton had a bad fever and to top it off PINK EYE! I would also be getting pink eye and a virus. Boo! We still pushed through though and had a great Thanksgiving full of our Omaha Traditions.
It was so nice starting the day off bright and early (while the kids slept in for THE FIRST TIME) to go and do a Turkey Trot. Unfortunately I couldn't run being prego and all so a couple of my friends and I BUNDLED up for the 8 degree weather and walked so fast we might as well of been running. ha We went straight for hot chocolate after and it was a great way to start off a day FULL of eating.
We had to get a picture of this guy in his turkey get up...too funny! |
We did a buffet again this year...SOOOO worth it! We decided on Golden Corral this year (by ourselves) because of all of our sicknesses. Millie LOVED every second of it and ate to her hearts desire and Braxton had a blast trying mashed and sweet potatoes and touching the wall the entire time because of it's texture. ha
Of course, the night before I had to make our favorite pies and this year Braxton and Millie got in on the best part...eating it! We discovered that each pie is a favorite and each got eaten down to the last piece.
Millie looks nuts but pulling her hair out is one battle I decide to let her win often ha |
We ate such an early turkey dinner that we decided to take a drive to get out of the house and of course had to grab some McDonalds on whim. Calories don't count on Turkey day. ;)
Braxton fell asleep on our drive and Millie insisted on holding his hand :) |
On Saturday, when were feeling a little better, we decided to run to Bass Pro to let the kids see Santa for the first time. Millie was just THRILLED and kept pointing and saying "Santa" and "silly Santa" I was so excited and we thought she was too...until she got on his lap. haha She instantly when nuts and cried and cried. Notice Braxton is content with checkin his fuzzy sleeve out. ;) Right when Millie got down and Santa offered her candy she stopped crying, grabbed the candy, said "Dank Do" with tears rolling down her face, and went on her way like nothing happened. Man I love that girl.
We are so Thankful for our beautiful kids, another one on the the way, living where we live and for the simple things in life! We wish we could always be with our family on every holiday but Christmas is right around the corner so we are looking forward to that!! :)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
