Millie Kaye McRae
Born Wednesday February 22, 2012
8 lbs 4 oz ~ 19.5 in.
Our sweet little Millie came 5 days early because I made her. haha For three weeks straight I was contracting and all sorts of things that mean labor is in the near future...well not for Millie. She was just too comfy in my huge belly. I think if I would have waited she would have come Wednesday anyway but at least we could plan on a time. Marc and I left the house at 8:00 (at night) and we were ready for a restful night. The Dr. told me that the medicine would take about twelve hours so we could sleep, wake up and have Millie. I thought that sounded quite nice. I got my first little dose of medicine at 8:45 and they said it would take 4 hours to kick in and that whenever I wanted I could get an epidural. I decided to wait so I wasn't numb for twelve hours. One hour in and I was having some horrible contractions!! I started the wonderful shakes and knew that the medicine was working. Marc had just laid down when all this started and I felt so bad! They got me my epidural by 12:00 am and the next time they checked me I was dilated to a 6! They told me that I wouldn't need to worry and that I would probably have her around 7. I told them that that wouldn't be the case because once I hit a 5 with Brax I had him 20 minutes later. They left me and 20 min later I told them it was time. My water hadn't broke yet so they said I couldn't have her until then. They waited to break my water so my dr. could be there. I had to wait for her to get to the hospital so once she got there...broke my water 5 pushes and Millie Kaye arrived at 1:53 am! I couldn't believe it she looked like Braxton! And when they told me she was over 8 lbs I was so surprised! I didn't tear (thank goodness) but they were concerned about my bleeding. So until I stopped bleeding Marc and I had to sit in the room, which meant no sleeping. We got plenty of pictures during that time and I was STARVING so I got a nice boxed lunch. haha It was the best tasting thing EVER! We finally got to the postpartum unit at 4 am and Millie hadn't slept once since she was born. I felt bad but I asked them to bathe her and bring her back in when it was time to eat. haha We were so exhausted. Marc got a few hours of sleep but they had to keep coming in and pushing on my stomach so I basically didn't sleep for 48 hours. It was such a fast, wonderful experience. Millie is the sweetest little thing and we just love her!!! It's amazing how when you think you couldn't love a child more than the one you already have...Your love just grows! We are so blessed that Millie came out healthy and ready to go home by Thursday evening. I will admit that it was the strangest thing being able to have her in our room the whole time, dress her in whatever I wanted, feed her when she was hungry, hold her when I wanted, and take her home right away!! When we got her in the car we looked at each other and were so weirded out that we were just taking her home! haha She is such a good baby!
Here is our room...Marc is good at capturing all the memories.
This was Braxton when we left for the hospital. I was so sad to leave him (first time) and he didn't even notice we left. hahaHe had his ring and his pen...who needs parents?! haMillie after she was born. Wide eyed and bushy tailed. Ready to greet the world. They gave her to me and didn't even take her! Such a strange experience!Millie and her dad. She is definitely gonna be a daddy's girl.Getting our time in.The next morning...wait! Same morning just later. Marc had a test at 9:30 that day and got an A! He got to celebrate by coming and seeing his sweet little baby girl and take a nap :)Braxton came up later that day (I was so excited to see him but of course I couldn't really even walk so I didn't get to really be with him. It was the best moment when he came and sat on my lap. He grabbed my face and smiled the biggest smile! That made my day and I knew he hadn't forgotten about his mom. He was a little skeptical about Millie, that is when he even noticed her. hahaHe wanted to grab her face...or maybe her beanie. We will go with the first ;)Right before we put her in her car seat. She got the worst rash right before we went home. It was way sad. Millie filled the car seat better than little Brax! She was double him!Don't mind my stupid face. Marc didn't tell me he was taking the picture but I had to post it cuz I never got one with Brax.
When we got home my mom had a homemade lasagna (my favorite), balloons, beautiful flowers and pepsi for Marc waiting. That was the sweetest thing! She did so much for us! Can't thank her enough for all she did! Thanks mom! Love ya!
My crafty, sweet, Sister-in-laws made this adorable banner for a welcome home gift for Millie! Best gift!Since being home Millie has had her crying moments and Braxton was a little concerned so he had to check it out himself. He wasn't sure about it. hahaMillie. It's so fun to dress her! A little overwhelming though, I am not the best at deciding things. hahaMy beautiful family! Braxton can palm her head! hahaMarc's famous baby hold. We got this swing from my Mother-in-law. We put her in it right away so she likes it. It will come in handy when Braxton needs a little help. :)I forgot to flip this picture but here is little McRae next to Millie. He was born just 5 weeks before Millie and now look how big he is!! Millie will probably be close to this size! Crazy how fast they grow.We are just loving having Millie here and Braxton will eventually notice or care that she is around. haha He will be such a great big brother. We are adjusting nicely to two kids (I guess it wasn't that long since I had a little baby ;) Today was my first day alone with the kids and it went pretty good. Braxton had a few falls and a nice choking incident on his spit ( had to do the Heimlich maneuver) but thankfully Millie was just sleeping during that period. I think we will just be inside for a couple weeks to get into a routine. haha This is when I pray for bad weather so I don't get too stir crazy. I love being a mom. It is so fun and Marc is the best dad in the world! He has been so helpful and I am so grateful to have him. We have had to make some tough decisions as to what to do about scheduling and a few other things and he is just so amazing! Love you! :)
Sorry for how long this post is...kind of a big deal having a baby. haha
