He loves the ring toy where they stack but he likes just the donuts and the blue one is his favorite. Hence the makeshift hanging toy for his car seat! A little ghetto but it gets the job done. haha He likes to put himself into really tough situations and tries to get out of them...
Since we got home from our vacation and back into our routine Braxton has flourished in the standing area. He will now do this to our bed and will stand up to the couch. The only problem is when get up to the standing position he starts crying because he is scared. His little knees start wobblin and he turns into a statue. His physical therapist will be so proud of how much progress he has made! We are so proud! He is getting more and more distracted with how aware of his surroundings he is. Marc tried to desensitize him with all of his toys from Christmas...it hasn't really worked. ha He is now 16 lbs (on a good day) and can kind of fit into his snow suit. There hasn't been much snow to go out and use this so hopefully we can use it before spring comes along!
His best trick yet is being able to remember his dinner routine. After dinner I go and get a bath ready. Marc takes him out of his chair, undresses him and Braxton now knows where to crawl! haha It is so funny because will come whippin around the corner and almost run into the wall he is so excited! He loves his bath and will go into the bathroom during the day and want to get in. He grunts while he crawls and will go and touch his little bath.
Eating has become a little tricky. He is still eating baby food stage 2 and not quite a full jar at a time. He gets VERY distracted. We have to have the lights off because he will follow the shadow of the spoon instead of the actual spoon. haha This was one of his distracted days. He looks like a 5 month old after a meal. It was in his hair, his eyes, and all over his belly.
The biggest thing to happen over the past month was his follow up MRI for his spinal cord. We were anxiously waiting for the results to see if he would need another surgery on his back. Thank goodness we had fantastic news and everything is looking great back there!
Brax and Dad hanging out before getting sedated...
Once again another IV was placed and he was sedated. It's really sad now that he is older because he knows exactly what is going to happen when we have to pin him down and stick a needle in him. He is so brave though! We are so proud of how well he handles all of his trials!
The medicine they gave him this time though was VERY strong and it took him a good two hours to wake him up enough to get the go ahead to leave and then he slept for 24 hours! It was crazy! There was absolutely no way to wake him up...
On a regular day there is no way we could have done this...
Or this...without him waking up (he is asleep in there haha). Such a champ! We sure do love this guy!
His Uncle Matt gave him this skunk toy. It moves around and he will follow it. When he catches it he will stick his face on it and not move for a few minutes. HILARIOUS!
Braxton is doing so much! We can't believe it! We are so happy that he has found his strength in movement and are hoping he is walking before 18 months! Pretty sure he is going to easily beat that goal. Other things that he is liking right now...
his shadow, biting on purpose, his crib, playing with dad, sitting in his highchair, playing with his crackers and finger foods (not eating them), hitting his head on everything! He purposely goes up to things and bangs his head over and over again. He usually starts crying after a while but starts all over, looking at mom and dad's face (huge accomplishment), going up to literally ANYONE who is on the floor and standing up to their legs, bulldozing over other kids. haha We love you Brax! Soon you are going to be the BEST big brother! Millie will be lucky to have you as a big brother! :) P.S. Workin on a sleeping schedule HARDEST THING EVER! to let him cry himself to sleep. It's hard for any parent but when your child doesn't understand the reason that you are putting him in his crib at night to just cry...let's just say I bawled the first few times. I am happy to say though that after a week in he is getting a lot quicker at going to sleep! Cross our fingers for a habit! That would be great before Millie comes. ha
