On Thursday Braxton had to go in for a sedated hearing test. We had to go through the whole process of not feeding him before hand which wasn't too bad this time just because he is getting a little bigger, that's a big plus! The negative about this procedure is that now that he is getting bigger, he is realizing pain and wants to get right on out of the situation (I don't blame him). Anyway, he keeps failing his left hearing test which is causing him to not look toward sound. It is kind of funny sometimes because we will be calling his name and he will act like nothing is going on. haha I guess you gotta be there.
But before he got the test they had to sedate him which meant an IV had to be placed. I am a little irritated and need to vent because Marc and I have seen this done many of times and we know that the best place to find a vein is his left foot! He has the thickest, chubbiest skin, so cute, but it is hard to find veins so we just made sure we remembered the best place. The IV team comes in and I tell them the best place is his left foot. Of course...what was I thinking, I am only the mom and have seen them misplace IV after IV before! Anyway, they go straight for the hand, nothing. Braxton is so sad and just bawling. We say it one more time, but EGO gets in some of these people's way and they go for a different location. Finally, Marc has to get a little angry at them before they will listen and they put it right in! I am so bugged by people sometimes. I know it is their job but Marc and I have seen this happen too many times and we just know. It was just awful to see little Brax having to be pinned down while they poke around! :( After that he was pooped and they hadn't even started. He fell to sleep right after doing a little wimper cry (which he has recently learned and it is very sad).
The tech and I getting Braxton ready...
Braxton so tired after the IV incident...
The audiologist got us the results right after and explained what the problem was...the test came out inconlusive! haha We will unfortunately have to go back and repeat this process once the doctor checks his ears to make sure there isn't any fluid in his ears. We truly are learning some major patience with doctors and with Braxton's condition. We basically have to take it one day at a time. I am getting used to this lifestyle though...I feel liberated! I am such a planner and have to have my day all planned out but I am liking this change. I feel like I am living on a beach (which I am not even close to) relaxing and not letting unplanned mishaps completely ruin my day! I think I could get used to this! :) Heavenly Father helps us learn things in such unexpected ways!
